What do you offer by way of Development Programs

In 2024, Shores United began offering a SAP/Development Program in conjunction with Brazil Kidz Football Clinic. This program runs for our U9 / U10 and U11 age groups, and at this stage our capacity and commercial agreement allow for only 1 team per age group. There are options, in conjunction with Alex from Brazil Kidz to run additional development programs on a team by team basis.

Are there any teams for girls?

Short answer: Yes.

For our 2025 we hope to enter at least one all girls team in each of the following age groups – U6/7, U8/9, U10/11. U12/13. 1 x Seniors Team Division 1/2. 1 x Seniors Team Division 5/6.

There is always room to create more all girls teams, provided there are enough players for that age group. Otherwise, girls are always welcome to play in the mixed teams.

When do I need to register?

Please be mindful of our requirements with FFNC and register in a timely manner.  This will help to minimise disappointment as Juniors and Seniors teams are nominated in March and MiniRoos teams have capacity limits and tend to fill up fast.

28 MAR – Squad Lists Due (Juniors and Seniors)

What is the wet weather procedure ?

It is assumed that fields are OPEN unless notification is specifically given by club, council, FFNC or Referee that they have been closed. The club will endeavour to advise your team coach in the event of postponement or cancellation.

Home Games – A decision will be made no later than 7:30am on the day and coaches will be informed by the Junior Coordinator (or Committee member) if it is closed. Coaches will need to contact their team to let them know.
New Brighton Oval is often the only local field open.
With great drainage, closures will be rare.

Away Games – The wet weather person from the away ground will make the decision and coaches may be informed by the Junior Coordinator (or Committee member). Coaches will need to contact their team to let them know.

If you find out a field is closed before you have been informed by Shores, let the Junior Coordinator or a committee member know!

Always check the fixtures website the day before and just before leaving on the day – as venues and times can change – and cancellations (due to field closure or forfeit) may be listed if they happened the day before a game.

What do I need in the way of kit ?

The club supplies all players with a game jersey for use during the season.

Parents need to purchase boots, shin pads, and black shorts for training and all games.

Team socks are available for purchase from the Newy Store for $10 a pair.

Balls, and training equipment are all supplied by the club.

Which team will I play with ?

Your age on your birthday between the 1st January and the 31st December of the current year determines which age group you will join for the season.

eg Luke turned 6 on the 5th Jan 2025 and will therefore most likely play with one of the 6’s teams.  Mia turns 7 on the 20th Dec 2024 and will therefore most likely play with one of the 8’s teams.

Players are encouraged to play up one (or even two) year levels if their skill level exceeds their current age group.  Please contact registrar-juniors@shoresunited.com.au if this is what you wish to do.

When is training ?

Training sessions run late afternoon / early evening depending on the night that best suits coaches and players.  Historically, training sessions have usually been run Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

Until the final teams are decided we won’t know when the training sessions will run.
